Another AcuTech Client Passes EPA Region III Audit

A second AcuTech client in Pennsylvania passed an EPA Risk Management Program rule compliance audit yesterday. The audit, conducted to the new EPA Compliance Auditing Checklist http://www.epa.gov/swercepp/pubs/audit_gd.pdf, assessed the facilitys compliance with most elements of the Rule.

EPA Region III (Philadelphia) appears to be focusing on the food industry in its auditing efforts, but AcuTech expect that all regulated industries will be subjected to these small-scale (one-day) inspections. We believe the EPA Regions have been directed to conduct large numbers of short audits in the next few months in order to build up a knowledge base to support targeted enforcement.

AcuTech recommends that all facilities subject to the RMP Rule examine their facility using the EPA checklist as a guide. Prompt action now to correct any serious deficiencies may help avoid citations in the future. AcuTech representatives are always available to assist clients in preparing for audits and inspections, and we routinely accompany facility owners during on-site regulatory activity.
