State and Local Risk Management Program Differences

As the EPA RMP program is being delegated to state and local governments in some locations, owner/operators need to be aware of the significant differences in requirements that are shaping up. AcuTech has years of experience with the more stringent state Risk Management Program (RMP) requirements in California, New Jersey, Nevada, and Delaware. AcuTech has monitored these differences closely, and is expert in creating programs to meet both federal and state requirements. In California, for example, there are 275 additional substances on the States list of regulated substances from the Federal list, and a number of commonly used substances have lower thresholds. For example, anhydrous ammonia is 500 lbs (v. 10,000 lbs. on the Federal list), and chlorine is 100 lbs (v. 2,500 lbs. on the Federal list). Contact an AcuTech office for more information and strategies for compliance.
